Gene appear and then of course Tyler and others. But Gene was such a huge step for me. I'd been collecting vintage Barbies and other dolls her size. But when I saw Gene I fell in love. AD was clever in their marketing and I love the subscription setup! I loved having dolls appear on my doorstep. Opening that box and seeing that lovely doll with beautiful hair and amazing clothing. I did have my pet complaints, but everyone does. I did have many of the early Gene-focused magazines. I've sold most of them now, although I sometimes come across things when I'm looking through boxes for other items. When I joined our local doll club it was Gene that people were excited about, and although all dolls were welcome, there were a large number of Gene dolls at most meetings. And I think most of those folks still love their Genes! It was such an exciting time.
