And they started a very unusual family. After many miscarriages, they had two sons, six years apart, who hated each other. They took in foster children - 36 children, 10 at a time, over the course of 8 years in attempts to get my brother and I to get along. I got along with everyone, he no one.

They are all gone now, and yet life goes on.

I put together this short video from my parents' wedding album. My mother's and the attendant (my aunts) gowns came from Priscilla's of Boston, which I think is still around. I love looking at the 1940s fashions.
