After a looooong wait, the 1952 musical
Lovely to Look At has finally been released on Blu-ray.
The movie stars Howard Keel, Kathryn Grayson, Ann Miller, with Marge & Gower Champion.
But the most important credit for us:
the costumes are by Adrian. And it features a fashion show of his work that is...well, lovely to look at.
If you've seen this movie on Turner Classic Movies or streaming, it's a far inferior transfer to this new Bluray, which has higher resolution and more saturated colors.
Lovely To Look At is not a particularly great musical, imho, and it does have Red Skelton who's just not my cup of tea, but it also does feature Marge and Gower Champion in a beautiful starlight dance to "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." Zsa Zsa Gabor even makes a brief appearance, and Ann Miller shows up in a dress/coat combo that will take your breath away.
Enjoy!
