When my older brother and sister were little in our very small southern Kansas town the local newspaper would publish their birthday parties. All the guests and decorations and sometimes gifts. Who came from out of town and where the party was held. I'm talking when they were maybe 2, 3 up to age 5 or 6. Many smiling little kids around the table with cake and balloons and smiling grandmothers. My mother saved the articles and they are just, well, silly. Never me or my younger brother. Although we had great birthday parties. Just not announced. I'm sure my mother was exhausted by then.
