In ~30 years of collecting, I’ve kept outfits that some might think aren’t as expertly made or designed, but the great association I have with the kind person who made it keeps it in my collection and I enjoy it every time I see it.
(And the very, very few times I’ve had an unpleasant experience, it makes it that much easier to let go of with no regrets, even if the outfit was “higher” quality. No amount of baking soda removes the lingering stench of an unkind interaction, imho.)
Of particular meaning for me are the creations of artists who are no longer with us.
Lol so long answer to your simple question is “Yes,” I absolutely associate an outfit or doll with its human history.
