My Etsy Store for Fashion dolls and 60-70 cm BJDS
Under $500, albeit just barely, is a fair price in this market. If you were to try and buy a Confetti Gene, for example, you'd pay closer to a grand, provided you could find one. Aftermarket prices on closed editions can soar.
For whatever reasons, any purchase that involves shipping from another continent has increased in price and is unlikely to ever decrease in price, unless the product itself proves deficient.
The idea that there could be "inexpensive replacement bodies" is a pipe dream. It can't and won't happen.
People are in business to make money, and the 1950s glamourous styles have proven to have a fan base and will sell; Robert Tonner already did period styles in his Deja vu line, and they only developed a strong fan base long after they were discontinued, so there isn't an already built in market for some of your suggestions. Manufacturers are loathe to take chances at a popular price point. Only the high end designer dolls will experiment like that, and you don't want to pay their prices.
It's a free country and an open dicussion, and you are able to air your solutionless complaints. However, to be honest, I don't think you have realistic expectations.
