This morning, about 30 of us went on an optional tour to the Fox Theatre. If you’re ever in Atlanta, I highly recommend visiting this unique landmark.
I was particularly taken with the stunning ceiling, complete with twinkling stars:
Then we were off to Miss Mary Mac’s Tea House, an Atlanta institution. I tried some fried green tomatoes for the first time! I also met some new people—including two first time SSP attendees!
After that, we had a few hours until the 7:30 dinner event started. And we got great news! Not one but two boxes were delivered from the factory to the hotel this morning! So we had these beautiful centerpiece gowns to admire:
These are a color variation of gowns Sandra first produced for the Belle of New Orleans event. For BONO, the fabric for the skirts had gold highlights. For P&P, the fabric has silver highlights.
And here’s the table setting with more of Patsy’s terrific paper minis:
The program was “Georgia’s Peach: Joanne Woodward.” And three of the extra purchase fashions were all recreations of fashions worn by her.
The first two fashions were from a movie, and (I think) designed by Travilla.
This next fashion is a re-creation of the dress Joanne Woodward wore when she won her Oscar for The Three Faces of Eve. Attendees of yesterday’s tour saw the actual dress, which is in the archives of the Atlanta History Center. The great story is that Joanne Woodward made the dress herself! In two weeks!
I saw photos of the dress, and it’s made of a beautiful peacock blue fabric. The color of the sample isn’t correct, and Sandra assured us the color of the final version will match Joanne Woodward’s dress
And then there was this stunning Gres gown in three color variations:
And because the factories delivered today, the box was back!
