Ha, as I reread what I wrote, I recalled an experience late one night. There were 3 of us in one car on the Metro. I had been sleeping and awoke to see where we were. I spotted a shoe box under the seat across the aisle from me. They were always begging people to report things like that for fear it was a bomb. But did I? Nope, I checked to see what it was. A brand new pair of tennis shoes with the receipt still inside. I knew the store. I called the next day hoping they could either track down the person who left them behind by their credit card or issue a credit. I walked down to the store a fair ways away from my office to return the shoes. The store was busy. They took the shoes back and never even said thank you. So I doubt the person ever got the shoes back unless they thought to check at that store. Lesson learned - I should have turned them in to the Metro Lost & Found...like some kind person did when my old flip phone fell out of my pocket. Ugh.
