Radio North, who had been operating, almost totally unbothered, from Donegal for about 40 years, were raided on thursday.
The raid is believed to be the result of complaints made by a low power Swedish station, Asfaltelegraph. They have broadcast on 1440 and 1494 in the past.
This Swedish station does (did) not operate on the same frequency as Radio North but seems to have an issue with free radio stations in other countries. This station has also transmitted off frequency in order to interfere with stations in other countries. This is in contravention of their licence agreement.
