I used getiplayer some years ago and managed to download just about every Bob Harris show. Then the BBC found a way to block it. Then getiplayer came up with a variation which took the BBC a bit longer to block but they got there in the end, using OUR money to stop us choosing how to listen to BBC shows while paying a BBC licence!
Now we can't even listen to BBC streams unless we use a smart speaker or BBC Sounds so my Denon tuner, as part of my hi-fi set up, can't receive BBC radio unless I plug an iphone in to it and select BBC Sounds. I'm afraid that the BBC, just like many governments, just craves control.
