Satellite TV days are numbered, the current satellites are nearing end of life, Sky has been moving towards using broadband for some years now, pushing their Glass TV and Stream box options rather than satellite boxes & TVs, they signed a new contract in 2024 with the main satellite operator, but only up to 2029, that may get another short extension, but it would be a lot cheaper for them to just replace satellite boxes with Stream boxes and dump the costs involved in duplicating services via satellite.
When Sky comes off satellite and basically decommissions those boxes I doubt other broadcasters would continue on what would become a very niche platform, and certainly not be willing to sign long term contracts to cover the commissioning new satellites, so that would see an end to Freesat too.
