May I add my comments here. I have know Nigel for 40 years now. Obviously I listened to him for some years before that.
He has always been unnassuming, competent and a supoerb broadcaster. Also, quite without ego which I can say for sure is very rare in this pastime.
Caroline had other good broadcasters of course but who came with assorted ' baggage ' that detracted from their skill.
By my recollection Nigel was always trouble free and effortless to listen to.
