Is to post only about things you know about. I appreciate your interest of course. My calculation of the exposed area of wooden deck ( we are considering if we can save the deck from the trawl winch to the stern ) is 220 square metres.
Obviously it was once very superior timber and I would estimate that it was once three inches thick. There was a sacrificial upper layer on top of the main timber, but we removed that when it became a trip hazard.
I can't pop down to Travis Perkins for some kiln dried pressure treated 6 x 3's.
The wood is laid on and bolted to a steel deck below. When this is revealed we will have to assess the condition of it. Hopefully ?? the wood was bedded down on tar so the condition of the metal might be good but it must all be prepared.
After cutting off all the stubs that bolted the wood down,we would have to start all over with a fortunes worth of timber and spend a fortune having it laid, secured and caulked.
Being practical, a scruffy looking deck won't sink the ship so our priority must be the hull, sea chests and sea valves.
You can buy big squares of non slip plastic grilles with simple fixings. you will see these in Marinas or on the deck of the Ross Tiger. This, while not being as authentic might be an affordable option.
PM.
