Relatively low cost compared with DAB platforms, plenty of folk listen on 648, Drivers, people on building sites, casual listeners at home who just want to switch the radio on with one touch. Not dead yet. Plenty of radios at home with AM. Caroline is loud and proud on MW, not easily missed if one scans the band these days. My builder friend has just bought a new Makita site radio. Guess what? it has AM on it and that's where it stays; locked to 648. Good AM is fine for normal/background listening and still has good entertainment value.
