I have looked up the Hurricane and it is "ready to go" with a 3 metre antenna. So the TX efficiency would be very low. Therefore if you coupled it up to a much longer antenna you would achieve a huge increase of power. I guess it is a matter of re-matching the output. There maybe a lot of choking to match up with the 3 metre antenna, and that should be removed.
