lesley, if you was a fan of the old offshore radio stations then you will know that the most popular ones also played a very tight playlist with fast rotation. I'm thinking here of Laser558 and Radio London Big L. There is a principle that when people put on a certain radio station, they want to know within a close margin what sort of music will come out of the speaker. I'm talking about stations that want to reach the biggest audience possible. There is of course also a place for radio stations that play alternative or specialist music as well but will only get modest audiences.
