Peter Moore and the current management team have been aware that I have the document regarding the award for an increase to 4kW emrp in 2021. Since then another request to increase to 16kW emrp was rejected. That was foolish because the electricity costs would have been sky high and unaffordable. Since January/February 2024 the transmitter has been extremely reliable and the Optimod 9200 has made a massive difference in the 2mV daytime service area. I will now reveil a small part of the Ofcom document- Frequency Management Decision for Suffolk and North Essex AM dated 12 January 2021. On page 2 they requested a 10dB increase (they got 6dB) to improve the signal to noise ratio. They wanted to extend the coverage to Thetford Bury St Edmunds and Braintree and got it. Analysis results:- 'The requested increase in EMRP is technically possible. The previous BBC high power assignment that a 10dB increase to Radio Caroline will not impact any existing domestic or foreign services.' Population area served - 1kW- 120000, 4kW-2.8m, 10kW- 3.9m at 2mV. Recommendation:- 'Taking into consideration the evidence of man-made noise provided in the application supporting documentation a 6dB increase to 4kW is recommended at this time. Should licensing see fit to extend coverage significantly there is no technical reason why the requested 10dB power increase could not be agreed.' I have waited several years before posting a more detailed summary. Scottg.
