yes I thought it was standard procedure - Floss's was staffed by "Debbie The Phone Girl". Once when running a station in Kent (not a million miles from the University) we were slightly more adventurous and announced a DJ's home number. "Miranda the phone girl", as we called her in air, soon got irritated at all the calls and pulled the phone out. It was a great re assurance of a following. When someone rang in with a correct competition answer, I was a bit lost on what to do. "Make up another name", they said. Oh yes. PS happy 41st anniversary of Caroline returning. Heard the test tones on 14th (in '83)?
