I knew Andy and Madeleine from outside of the music scene.When I learnt of his involvement in pirate radio I looked him up on Google and was astounded at the level of his contribution to the industry all over Europe and in one case in Sierra Leone or it might have been Senegal.He never once mentioned or boasted about his achievements although he had every right to do so.It says much for his perspective of life and his innate decency.

It was a profound shock to hear from Madeleine of his passing only recently having seen him and hoping his treatment was progressing.He was a good man in every sense and among many others I will miss him greatly.
