The signal where I am is about what it was when at sea, maybe down a bit from the early 80's. But electrical interference is way much more than back in those days.
What the station does need is publicity, they'll get that with the 60th coming next year and preservation events for the ship. The jury is out for DAB as I find it's only in the car in large conurbations where the signal is robust enough, but the cost compared to the AM and the current supporters is a difficult one to square. Even trying to get on one of the London multiplex could put the whole Caroline project into financial failure. Is that worth it considering there is a 24/7 station that is easy and widely available through a mobile App and a smart speaker where increasing listeners are frequenting. Plus a the Flashback service and the novelty North weekends.
Publicity is the big thing the station requires, to reach an audience that is looking for something different that is already out there.
