Radio Caroline - onshore or not - give Peter Moore credit for is happening today.

The next best thing to AM offshore broadcasting is the Orfordness site. Approx 4 years offshore in 60's, 2 weeks in 1970, on the Mebo 2, 7.5 years approx until the deathtrap Mi Amigo sunk, The resurrection of the station in 1983 (approx 7.4 years) made headline news, a brightly painted ship, tallest mast ever constructed on a boat (even made the Guinness book of records). In reality the transmitters were obsolete, as was the studio equipment, excluding the Orban Optimod. The majority of broadcasting from both Mi Amigo and Ross Revenge on high power was Mi Amigo and Monique for the Dutch/Belgium audience. The name Radio Caroline only rode piggyback in off broadcasting hours during the majority of these years. The income for a certain person (by hire contracts) collapsed after the mast collapsed in November 1987. Many people (enthusiasts) were involved constructing the twin masts, and djs were also enthusiasts. None more so than after the August raid in 1989. That effectively was the end. I was even on that march in September 1989, even though I at that time lived outside the reception range. It is the SUPPORTERS, NOT the figurehead of the 60's, 70's or 80's that we have Radio Caroline today. Peter Moore deserves more praise than what he gets. Scottg.
