Neil is right though, if it was on RAJAR you would see what a commercial flop it is! It will never amount to anything as it is, the only times it was good and successful was when it was a commercial station. If you see any TV documentary about it, it is almost always just about the 1964-1967 time, apart from 80s, the rest of the time up to today it's barely mentioned. If it never competed against all the other pirates in the 60s it would never has been a success. It only does well when there is another pirate to show it how to do radio programming, eg Laser 558.
My reply to 'board watcher' the other day still stands, which either never appeared or was removed I don't know which. Apparently I am always being negative about the fake station!
My reply: I think you are the one who is being negative by accepting the current dull sound of the station which is never going to have any future beyond a few anoraks. Think how much Caroline could achieve if it became an exciting innovative ENTERTAINING music station again, with great presenters. The excuse that plenty of other stations play hits is not a valid one. Caroline could do it in a way that is well, just Caroline and would be different to the dross on the other boring stations, and so much better. You guys complain that legal radio is boring and it is - Caroline can something about it once again if they had someone in charge who understands this. It's like these people on this board actually want to see it flounder around being a flop, instead of being a household name.
If I asked 100 people have you heard of Radio Caroline, most would say what/who?, and the others would say I thought they finished in the 60s, age depending! This says it all!

Errrr can we put it back on topic, commercial radio has a bright future on FM/DAB/DIGITAL with record audiences on those. Not AM!
