Commercical radio listening at a record high

Latest RAJAR is out, putting commercial radio ahead of the BBC in total audience share for the first time. Record numbers for Global (26.7m), Bauer (22.4m reach) and News Broadcasting (6.7m reach). Commercial radio now has its highest ever 38.7m tuning in every week – six million listeners more than the BBC. I would have said that the reason for this is BBC radio 2 losing listeners after Steve Wright left. But no, it's still on 14.4m listeners. We will see what happens next as the result of Ken Bruce leaving for GHR feeds in. GHR has record reach. Heart has its highest ever audience figure with 11.2m listeners each week. Pretty much across the board, commercial radio is up, while some BBC stations are down. 88% of the 15+ UK population listens to radio every week, so that kills the idea that radio is now dead. I fully expect replies to mention the C word but lets see if they can resist.
