I think Bauer want GHR to have maximum coverage as they have got some well know names on the presenters team now with Ken Bruce starting in under two weeks time on mornings.
The loss of 102 FM in Ipswich was a loss for them when Nation broadcasting wanted to put their own station on the frequency a few months back and they had the 106.4 frequency from the mighty Mendlesham mast which covers all of Suffolk and North Essex and into south Norfolk. Kiss will still be on FM around Norwich on 106.1. Not a fan of Kiss myself but it's not aimed at the likes of me of course so I'm happy to see GHR getting 106.4 from Mendlesham with it's broader appeal format.
There is now arguably a significant coverage overlap in Tendring/North East Essex with 100.2 being in an area where 106.4 has pretty good coverage. Maybe they should apply now to flip 100.2 to the more younger appeal 'Hits radio' to give a better choice in that area.
