How do you get away with talking such nonsense for so long?

So I calibrate my receiver using a calibrated voltage source. But what did we use to calibrate the voltage source? Oh yes a calibrated voltage meter, but what calibrated that?
You need a reference system and then your system will be as accurate as that when used in an identical fashion. Deviate from any of the parameters and your accuracy has gone.
