If they are given more power it would have to be at least 16k as this would still only give it the same ratio as from the 1 to 4 increase ie just 6db and as we all know it wasn't that much stronger only very marginally! In order for it to really improve it would need to be around 36k which would give a 9db increase over that it currently is. Each time you double the power you will only gain 3db! So if it were to be 36k then you would have to double this to 72k for just a further 3db. For those who don't understand db, kw, erp, by changing the power to 10k from the current 4 it would be the equivalent of holding say 100 two pence pieces in your hand and then dropping 10 of them and feeling the difference in weight again hardly noticeable. It would not be worth the extra power spent to achieve this so unless it will be going up to 30 or 40k it would be totally pointless. It would better serve them to get more gain efficiently out of the antenna its self, not to just add token gestures of power, the change from 4k to 10k on its own just wont cut the ice the only thing that will noticeably rise from this is the much higher cost of runing it..
