I used to live approx 12 miles from the 1215am TX at Postwick near Norwich. Reception of Radio 1 was awful especially after dark. Caroline on whatever frequency always came in stronger as did RNI. I used to listen to Dutch services during the day as reception was so much better. After dark 1215 was almost unlistenable. I emailed Virgin a number of times requesting them to up the mod but never got a reply. Gold and later Smooth on 1152 was always much louder in comparison and much better although not great after dark. Realistically I don’t see a speech station getting very far with 1215 not in this area anyway.
