Re: DRM returns as a Phoenix?
Mike, what Paul is referring to is a very small DRM interface unit that receives a large LW international range transmitter sending out a DRM signal instead of AM. The little box runs off 3 AA cells and has an inbuilt ferrite LW receive antenna. The box then generates a micro FM transmission, like the older mp3 players to car FM radios. I believe these budget priced boxes also have DRM channel selection and a Hi Fi stereo line output. This will bring LW into the digital age, and be far cheaper delivery of radio than DAB multi transmitters and web delivery. There's more to this, and Paul is the man in the know to inform us further. I believe the new versions of DRM can deliver many Hi Fi stereo stations all carried on just ONE large LW international transmitter. This excites me as its real LF radio in new clothing !!
