"For instance one person, Andrew Yeates, mailed our service provider saying that we should take down our streams as they were infringing ' his ' trade mark. We said that we required to see his opinions on Company headed paper with an address and a name and signature and to know the position that Andrew held in the Company. We heard no more"
The Company in question would have been Radio Caroline S.A which had been granted a trademark in the EU for the name "Radio Caroline".
I did not mail Peter's service provider, however it is likely they were contacted by a representative of Radio Caroline S.A
In order to avoid confusion in the marketplace, the Company proposed that Peter's version of Radio Caroline be geo-locked and not available within mainland Europe.
Ronan was to receive a royalty payment from the new Caroline for use of the name, with a small percentage of any profits paid into an Irish trust, which in turn would help cover medical and living costs for Ronan.
My understanding of the situation was that the UK would be reserved for Peter, with both the Benelux and France reserved for their respective operators. The rest of Europe would've been used by Radio Caroline S.A as the EU Trademark holder.
The anticipated outcome being four RADIO CAROLINE services each geo-locked for their respective markets, thereby avoiding any trading conflict with the potential to co-operate in promoting the Caroline brand across Europe and further afield.
Sadly, certain factions within Peter's UK Caroline were unwilling to accept such a sensible and friendly outcome.
As a result this has also apparently ended up with an ongoing legal dispute between Peter and Phillip in the Dutch courts.
We had the potential to bring about a strong (geo-locked) network of Caroline services across Europe which, unfortunately due to certain people, wasn't to be.
So much for Loving Awareness.
