I listened on Friday and was enjoying an hour of essentially rock based oldies like McGuniness Flint then at 9pm the whole thing changed in French to a deep heavy bass line type of jazz or funky music so I turned off.

That is not how successful radio works, jumping formats within a format is a recipe for disaster.
It doesn't work on AM anyway, I won't be tuning back in.
