Speaking as a veteran Radio Amateur, who has a fair amount of Top Band 160m experience, and as a DX listener on Medium Wave.
My best two way contact on Top Band was to a contest station on one of the Caribbean Islands. (Yes, medium Wave will go that far).!
I live on the East Lincolnshire coast, on the Western shore of the Wash.
At 1kw, the Caroline signal was medium to strong during daylight, but was next to useless after dark.
Now with the power increase, the signal is more than strong enough to combat most noisy areas whilst mobile, where it wasn't possible before.
After dark, the signal holds up very well indeed.
During quiet periods, I can just hear the co-channels in the background.
I do get skywave interference from Caroline's own signal at odd times, but it never lasts long.
Technically, its called (superposition and phase distortion).
There is not much of it, as the groundwave is mostly the dominant signal.
I hope this helps.
