Re: Whatever happened to Digital Radio Mondiale ?
Well, This is a long story with several answers, i have been following this for the last twenty years with much dissapointment. The early DRM radios like Murphy were v dissapointing and did not work v well, of course they were produced in China. Until v recently the market was the Far East, with India producing DRM radios about ten years later. You could order the odd radio from China, and a few people did that but of course there was only 30 SW Broadcasters using DRM in the World. Later on recently China and India have started to produce better DRM radios. MW radio is now dead, so it would not happen here on MW. In Europe a manufacturer has started to produce DRM radios in Switzerland and Holland, but now we are looking at Low band FM in the next couple of years if DRM tests work ok in Denmark. The band would if you like be an overflow band to the standard FM band, so that more stations can come on it because the 88-108 FM band is full up.Rgds Mike
