I can't comment specifically on this radio because I've never tried it out, but if it was me I would go for one of their portables which apparently are just as sensitive with the benefit you can take anywhere with you. The PL 990-X is normally around the £260 mark and the 880x is a good price at £189. From the reviews I've read the
S-2000 is no more sensitive than their portables.

I own the pl-680 which is cheaper again. Only thing I don't like about it is the sound, so when it finally packs in I'll be going with something like the 990-X as the sound is better.

If you go to the youtube then the OfficialSWLchannel has videos giving reviews on the portables above and also has a live show on Saturday evenings where he answers the exact type of question you have asked. He will give you an honest opinion if you asked him in the chat that accompanies the live shows.
