I haven't really listened to Atlantis or given it a real chance. I'm a 63 born person so most of the 60's passed me by and for reason only known to my brain the earliest recollections are the white Christmas of 1970 and wearing a Chelsea football kit and tracksuit. Don't worry I've moved on from that and actually support the local premiership side but that's another story.
60's music to me was always golden oldies and I appreciate a fair amount of the music, but it more reminds me of the music my parents used to argue with my older sisters and advising "its not as good as years ago" My sisters who are now in there 70's still love this stuff.
Now having listened most of the day I can listen to it, probably because of me remembering Laser's 60's Sunday, which was probably more relevant for the time as it was only 15 years previous. I like the overall sound of the station, it's clearly voice tracked but very professionally done. Apart from just after 3 o'clock the DJ said thanks to Dave, we have some great music lined up for you, here is Marvin Gaye. Only for the excellent Walker Brothers and the Sun Ain't gonna shine anymore. But such is life nothing is perfect. But the good thing with a live DJ and a participating audience he would soon be put right and the mistake laughed off.
If anything on purpose mistakes could be put in to make it sound more human. Worth a thought if it is not too often. As I have mentioned in previous posts I prefer to have a presenter who is doing a live show and operating his desk, but in this commercial world I appreciate it is not always possible.
It's a great choice to have, has opened my ears to the occasional music song I have never heard before, but being into Music and a volunteer presenter for HR many years ago there are very few that are not familiar to me. But good to hear the less obvious choices than are heard on the Corporate 60's stations.
Not sure if a live breakfast could be incorporated but that would be nice have. All in all a good professional and welcome alternative and the use of the Surrey/London multiplex is a good cheap way to reach the masses.
Good luck to all of them for the future but not somewhere I would frequent regularly, but that's not an issue as I'm not the average listener and I seek my entertainment very specifically, hopefully I catch it live but also listen very often to listen again facilities when live music radio is not available.
I do hope we don't get the regular tit for tat and Caroline does this. I do know they have live presenters at times, but some are not to my liking or do not fit in with my musical preferences. As for Caroline flashback again maybe a little to 60's based and presenters that are not live.
