Mike as you want to get the best signal from 648khz which you don't like -- forget a long whip tech has moved forward and if you have a nice park or hill near you to drive to then buy a second hand kitesurfing kite and a reel of cable.

Attach the kite to a roof rack or tow bar by the lime that goes to your body harness and, with careful tweaking, it will be quite happy flying above your head .
Attach your aerial cable to it et voila - one aerial. You could even turn it into an inverted "V" with more cable .
Be careful the kites are powerful as they are designed to drag people along the water at great speeds so getting a reel of cable into the sky won't be a problem .Been there,doing it on the water.Kitesurfing that is not dangling wire from it.
No good for mobile use of course -- but if you want to look a plonker then give it a go or buy a "barrage balloon".Maybe the "LW" poster could use one of his contacts to get you one .
