Years ago (when I was young, as OAPs say) I researched Frame aerials for MW AM use
and the small tecsun one, is a very small one, by Frame aerial standards
The original MW one, was One metre square, and the signal increase, this size gives
is the difference of Nothing, to a readable solid signal
My discovery was, the coil don't need to be round or square, and because a large square one
tends to get in the way a bit indoors, my large frame was around 6 foot tall
and only One Foot wide, this worked as good as a One Metre square one
My original artical in Buster Pearsons "Monitor" Mag is on this site...
Scroll down to "How to Improve your Medium wave reception"
Also, if you look at this page, on Roland Beaney's excellent site, (Scroll to near lower end)
There is drawing of the Anoraks UK one, which is about Two foot square
But this size of frame could be made, say... 3 foot high, and 1 foot wide, to save table space
If you just want to see, how good the larger ones are, Just wind the coil, on a big Cardboard box!
