Yes more or less the same here in as much as I was 14 at the time and in my last school year! A bunch of us decided that we would no longer turn up for any classes we turned up for our mark and then congregated on the schools field ech day until we got bored then we all went home regardless of the time sometimes it was well after the school ended but more often well before it was more or less when all the boose had run out for the 1st few days they would try to get us in class but soon gave up Radio Caroline International South could be heard loudly none of us would listen to R1 A few days after she was towed away I was tuning around and found an advert for Coca Cola followed by a slick sounding fast moving presenter who I came to know as Rob Out followed by Lex Hardin the first record played was Fire by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. flowed by 2 Veronica jingles and strait into Mony Mony by Tommy James and the Shondells, then the super fast slick presentation that-was Rob Out who had me hooked! One by all the radios on the field tuned over to her one of the lads had spent 3 years in Holland due to his fathers work so it was only minuets when we all learned from him that Veronica was a pirate from that day we never tuned around our Caroline replacement had been found. latter It was a cool situation because I had the best of both worlds come 1970 in as much as I was working at the Rank organization Sundown mega size discotheques so had full access to the UK top 40 plus due to Veronica had a great knowledge of all the Dutch bands so I was totally spoiled! Music wise that is
Veronica was my total Saviour from the disgrace that was radio one bless her. When I hear that Caroline term ie the Lady for me that was and is Veronica 192mw
