The correct story of this transmitter is as follows. When Rhodesia declared unilateral independence in 1965 the UK government wanted the BBC to commence broadcasting aimed at Rhodesia. They needed a transmitter. There were none available that were suitable. The government knew that Caroline had a 50kw TX on order from Continental electronics in Dallas. UK government approached Caroline and asked if they could take it for the BBC. Caroline agreed to let the government jump the queue at Continental. So the BBC got Caroline's transmitter and Continental supplied the next one to Caroline for the Mi amigo in early 1966. When the BBC no longer needed the TX in Africa it was shipped back to the UK and ironically it was used to jam RNI/Caroline in 1970
