V E Day Ship Display

Anyone watching the V E Day events would have got the impression that the Royal Navy had done very little to contribute to the Allied Victory in Europe. In reality, the Royal Navy, over a two week period in May/June 1941, delivered the first strategic defeat of Germany in WW2 by sinking the Bismarck and clearing all her support vessels from the North Atlantic. I approached the Committee of the "Pop Up Cafe" that provides refreshment from 09.00 to 12.00 on Tuesdays in the Social Club building off High Street, Avening, Gloucestershire, to allow me to provide a display of ship models to illustrate how the Royal Navy swept the German surface warships from the seas. The display is there for Tuesday, 13th May only. The Mobile Post Office will be outside the building from 09.30 to 11.30 and, for those of you who cannot imagine a ship-show without ginger biscuits, they are always available at the Cafe (but not free of charge).
