New Models

The first of two parcels from WDS has arrived at Antics Warehouse. The contents of this parcel comprise three different versions of Norland. One is the civilian versionin the livery she was wearing when requisitioned for trooping duties in the Falklands Campaign but before the helipads were fitted. This is different from the Sextant model of Norland and has North Sea Ferries in large lettering on the hull interrupting the lining on the black hull. The other two models have the landing pads for the military helicopters. There is a Chinook helicopter in the pack with the ship model and the helipads have fine etched brass rails along the sides.Norland took 2 Para and their equipment to San Carlos Water. The ship made a few stops on her way south and during the voyage the funnel was painted blue and a Parachute Regiment badge appeared on the sides of the funnel. After the Argentinian troops surrendered, Norland made a couple of voyages to the mainland to return prisoners of war to the neutral countries , Uraguay and Brazil, from where they could be sent home but for those voyages the North Sea Ferries lettering on the hull was painted out and the winged parachutes on the funnel were replaced by the letters PW. I have posted photographs of all three types on the Antics Website. The other parcel is still in transit and includes models of ships that date from the 1880s to the 1960s.
