I find these videos quite useful for scratch build details.
At about 1:30 he uses something called Mr Dissolved Putty as a filler. It seems to sand down quite easily.

I wondered if anyone has used this and how they found it?

I normally use Holts Knifing Putty, but find that can have quite a long curing time until it is fully hardened. I haven't tried a hairdryer to speed the process up which was suggested by one of my sons
