My view of photo etched railings for 1/1200 - 1/1250 ship models is that it's grossly over-sized.

Although it can be delicate and appear neat, the scale thickness of the parts means they approximate to, say, a garden fence. Add a coat of paint and they're even thicker.

However, if you like it then do it. It's your model and your choice.
