My guess is the combination of a relatively small, discontinued range (last was RG47) and this one (RG45) being the only model of the particular ship perhaps only made in limited numbers.
Maybe it's a 'only need this to complete my RG and or Canadian Pacific collection' moment?
Still looks like a silly price even if your Great-Grandad was the ship's Captain!
