Many of the early production Navis models had plastic turrets and I have examples of German, British and Japanese warships with plastic turrets.The Japanese ships with plastic turrets were the last to change, probably because not so many models were made per year. The plastic turrets were sealed into position using a hot die and this produced a turret that rotated easily and smoothly in the cast metal barbette. I think that some of the earliest Navis Neptun models (perhaps half a dozen) were made entirely in plastic but the only one I ever owned was the target ship (Hessen?).
