I did read somewhere a while back that in the 1970s they considered some of the smaller ships but either couldn't find all of the dies or found they weren't viable commercially. It might have been in one of Pat Hammonds books, I'm not sure.
However, if they considered that recreating the 1960s range (or some of it perhaps) was a viable proposition, they could do what they are doing currently with selected Corgi toy cars - build exact replicas and sell them via Club Membership.
Once you have a perfect example to copy it's a relatively simple job to scan all of the components, adjust for casting shrinkage etc and cut a new die or dies from the CAD files.
Sad to say I don't think this would be viable.
Sales of the Corgi QE will be key in persuading Hornby Hobbies to expand its range of Corgi Sea Power models. If the QE sells poorly I think that will be 'it' for mini ships from Corgi (no doubt they'll never beleive their 'full hull' decision was a likely factor - we'll see!).
