Back in the 60s as a kid I was always fascinated by the playsets advertised on the back of American comics. I always assumed they would be plastic versions of Triang ships like the bags of plastic toy ships found in Woolworths and toyshops.
Sadly they were in fact closer to the wargame counter shapes used in the Axis Allies series. See this interesting account
