Ensign, Clydeside, Eaglewall, Airfix etc were the mainstay of models used as the gaming was the important thing. After returning after six years working in the Gibralter Dockyard to the UK a trip
to Hambug with Kelly Holmes & Shaun Pritchard opened my eyes to all these wonderful models. At this point i became a collector. I tend to repaint all my models before they join the fleet and am a bit of a Fleet Builder and do tend to collect all ships in the Class.
For us in the UK i think the future looks good, there are a number of producers producing a range of models and kits and on a regular basis collections are popping up and being recirculated by a number of dealers. Also with six dedicated Mini Ship Shows plus Dealers attending Toy Fairs and Ship Shows in the pipeline this year it gives collectors a chance to see and by models.
With Stuart & Slavi at Anchorage And Hugh Thomas at Mast & Spars who both do a superb commission painting service we in the UK seemed to have all bases covered.
