I've looked at my images of both ships and am not convinced there is a difference. The 'deck' you mention is probably the platform that both ships have at the end of the island.

As 'sod's law' would have it, I don't have a really good shot of the QE's platform though, so I cannot be 100% certain.

Maybe someone with a comprehensive knowledge of both ships can confirm?
