3-D printed Batch II River-class

As promised, I picked up the print of the model offered by Paul G below from my son and I can report that the print compares well with the Albatros model. The print was made without external support in matt white PLA with the base of the hull at the waterline flat on the printer bed for horizontal printing. Unlike the other 1/1250 scale ships we have printed where there is a solid base under the whole hull, the centre of the waterline area on this model is hollow and the design has a raised maker's name in the depression. This raised name does not print because a build-up printer will not try to print the name at a lower level than the wall of the hull that it has just printed. It can make a horizontal mesh to bridge gaps so, in theory, it should be able to print an incised name on the underside of the deck but whether the name is there or not is not important to an end user of the design.... Now for the good points. The bow gun is smaller and finer than the Albatros casting. The hull is smooth and fine with no detectable steps and the dimensions match the Albatros model exactly. Printing time was 30 minutes with 0.15mm printing layers. 10/10 Excellent!
