I have been asked by members of Alan's family to let the members of the mini-ship community know of his death last month after a long battle with cancer. Alan is best known as the founder and owner of Antics, the largest model shop chain in the UK. In 2006, Alan bought Saxon Mini-ships from Michael Hayes and used the Anticsonline website to grow the market for 1/1250 and 1/1200 ship models.
Alan was always keen to stress that it was a family business and the Tyndall family retain control of the business but the registered office has been transferred to the Antics Warehouse in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. There are no plans to close any of the shops, so you can still use click and collect shopping at your local outlet.
